The SureSmile Aligner Process for Beautifully Straight Teeth
At Distinctive Dentistry, we are pleased to announce that we now offer SureSmile Aligner treatment to our patients looking for a more affordable way to straighten their teeth in a shorter time frame than with traditional braces!
What are SureSmile Aligners?
These clear aligner trays are sometimes called “Clear Braces” or “Invisible Braces.” Clear aligners are a remarkable technological advancement that has allowed many people to undergo orthodontic treatment in a much less obvious way than traditional metal brackets and wires. These clear aligner trays move the teeth and align the jaws to create a beautiful and healthy smile. SureSmile technology is designed by orthodontists and is backed by more than 20 years of digital planning expertise and precise aligner fabrication to ensure smooth, comfortable aligners.
How does the treatment work?
You will first schedule a consultation with Drs. Robert Gemmel or Ty Jaros, our dentists. At the consultation, we will listen to your goals and desires for your smile. We then take pictures and a digital scan of your mouth to produce multiple 3D images of your teeth. These images are then linked together to create a highly accurate 3D model of your teeth. After this scan is complete, our doctors will assess how clear aligners may work best for you and design a customized treatment plan and timeframe until treatment completion.
Once the treatment plan is finalized, you will return to our practice to pick up your first series of clear aligner trays. You will return for monitoring appointments as instructed by our doctors, generally about every 4-7 weeks. At your monitoring appointments, the doctor will check the progress of your treatment, sometimes deliver a new series of trays, and sometimes take a fresh scan of your teeth.
After your treatment, Drs. Gemmel or Jaros will give you clear retainers or, in some cases, place small inconspicuous retainer wires on the inside of some teeth to help keep your beautiful, straight smile for life.

Dr. Robert Gemmell received his DMD from Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. He is a current member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the Oregon Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
