What to expect during your first visit

Your initial visit to a new dentist can be intimidating, but we are committed to making your experience comfortable, knowledgeable, and seamless. We want to make your first dental exam memorable, ensuring you have a positive experience that inspires you to keep coming back for regular check-ups.

The following is what you can expect on your first visit.

1. Warm welcome: From the moment you open our doors, you’ll find a warm, welcoming atmosphere where you’ll be greeted with a friendly smile. From your first visit and beyond, our team always treats you like the family you are—with care, compassion, and respect.
2. Medical history: Since it’s your first time with us, we’ll take the time to get to know you and your medical history. We always ask our patients to arrive 15 minutes early to their appointment so they can fill out the necessary paperwork. However, you can skip this part by completing our new patient forms before your appointment. The best way to care for your smile is by listening to you. During this initial visit, we’ll inquire about your medical records, dental history, past dental experiences, and more. Furthermore, we’ll discuss your goals, current concerns, anxieties, expectations, etc., to tailor-make your dental experience.
3. Dental exam: After taking digital X-rays, Perio probe measurements, oral cancer screening, and reviewing your health history, one of our three dentists will come in for your comprehensive dental exam.  They will talk with you regarding your concerns or issues you may have, review your X-rays  and do a very thorough exam looking at your mouth for signs of infections, misalignments, bruxism, etc. We strive to detect and treat dental issues early on before they become significant headaches.
4. Dental cleaning: Caring for your teeth and gums involves more than brushing and flossing. Professional cleanings at our office complement your at-home oral hygiene by removing plaque and tartar from hard-to-reach areas. We recommend bi-annual dental cleanings to keep your smile healthy and issue-free.
5. Treatment plan: We only go to this step if we find issues with your smile. We always use a conservative approach, only recommending the treatments you need. Depending on your exam results, your treatment plan may include tooth fillings, crowns, periodontal care, root canals, etc. While this may seem intimidating, we’ll explain each treatment, answer all your questions, and ensure you understand the benefits of each treatment. We’ll provide you with the highest quality care in a supportive and reassuring environment.
